What is the age limit at the Farmacy Santa Barbara dispensary?

Farmacy Santa Barbara is an adult-use cannabis retail store, which means that anyone with a valid gov’t-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state id or passport, showing they’re at least 21 years of age can purchase products here. No prescriptions or medical cards are required.

*Note: A patient that is under 21 but at least 18 years old may enter and purchase cannabis if they have a state medical card or verified medical recommendation.

What payment methods do we accept?

The Farmacy Santa Barbara Dispensary accepts cash payments, debit transactions and cashless prepay powered by Jane Pay. Debit transactions will be accompanied by a $2.75 transaction fee. Some banks may charge their cardholders an additional fee in accordance with their own policies. 

Unfortunately, due to federal regulations, we cannot accept credit cards. We hope this will change in the next few years.

What do I need to know about delivery?

Our Santa Barbara weed delivery radius extends from Carpinteria to Goleta. The cut-off time for deliveries to Carpinteria is 12:00 noon, with all deliveries conducted immediately afterward in the 12:30-3pm time span. The cut-off time for local delivery is 5 pm daily. There is a $5 flat delivery fee and a $50 minimum order. You must have a valid government-issued ID to show the driver, and you must be at home to receive your order.

How much will I pay in taxes when I buy cannabis at Farmacy Santa Barbara?

When we talk about taxes on cannabis sales, we’re talking about three different tax types:

Cannabis State Excise Tax – The cannabis state excise tax is imposed upon purchases of all cannabis and cannabis products at a rate of 19% of the Taxable Excise Total *see below for formula. Retailers are responsible for collecting the cannabis excise tax from purchasers at the time of the retail sale and pay the cannabis excise tax to the CDTFA.

County Tax – 6% for MMIC Card Holders and 6% for all other Adult Use/Recreational Purchases

Sales Tax – Nearly all products in California are subject to a general sales tax, and cannabis is no exception. While the excise tax is the same no matter where you buy, sales tax varies depending on your city or county. Per the CDTFA, Sales tax is calculated after delivery fees (if applicable), local city tax and 15% cannabis state excise tax has been added to your purchase.

As of April 1st, 2025, the sales tax for the city of Santa Barbara is 9.25%

Farmacy Santa Barbara’s Tax Formula:

Purchase Total + 6% County Tax (or 6% for MMIC) + Delivery Fees (if applicable) = Taxable Excise Total

Taxable Excise Total + 19% Cannabis State Excise Tax= Subtotal

Subtotal + 9.25% Sales Tax = FINAL COST

How much cannabis can I purchase?

California’s legal limits on cannabis purchases are applied to two different use types—Adult-use for anyone 21+, and Medicinal use, which applies to cannabis purchased by someone with a medical card or physician’s recommendation.

Adult-Use (Flower – 28.5 grams & Concentrates – 8 grams)
Medicinal (8 ounces of cannabis – dried flower or concentrated plant conversion)

Can I order ahead and pick up in-store?

Yes! Simply order online through our website, and your order will be ready for pickup within 15 minutes.

Where can I use/consume cannabis I purchase at the Farmacy SB?

You can use cannabis on private property. You cannot use, smoke, eat, or vape adult-use cannabis in public places. Santa Barbara is a smoke-free city.

It is against the law for you to have an open container of cannabis in a vehicle while driving or riding in the passenger seat. It is illegal to smoke cannabis in an operating vehicle. Be safe. Be smart.

Is there parking at the Farmacy?

There is parking adjacent to our location. We strive to be a good neighbor and ask that you be careful not to block driveways, use other local businesses’ parking or double-park when visiting Farmacy Santa Barbara.
